Celebration of Life for Owen McMahon
Celebrating Owen

A Celebration of Life has been planned for Owen on Saturday, August 8th from 4-7pm at the Denver Athletic Club Billard Room.  Both of our children went to daycare, preschool, and summer camp at the DAC. It’s a prominent experience in their lives and has been a second home for our family over the years.Â

Dress code is Colorado Casual, whatever you would wear to a nic-er bar. Pool and Shuffleboard tables will be available.Â

When you arrive at the Denver Athletic Club, please check in at the desk. Take the stairs or the elevator to the second floor. There should be signs directing you to the Billiard Room at the end of the hall. Â

-
We have the billiard room to ourselves.
-
Expect appetizers and limited buffet (sliders, wings, etc.).
-
Wine and beer are on Owen, so celebrate!

Parking Information

There is metered parking on all surrounding streets. It is typically a 2-hour limit so if you choose street parking just remember to feed your meter. Â

The DAC also has a garage available for your use. The DAC cannot guarantee parking availability, as the DAC garage is open to the public as well as DAC members.

The garage and surface lot entrance is on Welton St, directly behind the DAC. When prompted guests should pull a ticket to enter the surface lot or parking garage. It is very important that they do not insert their credit card. When exiting, they will first scan their parking ticket and then scan the voucher, at this time they will be prompted to pay the discounted rate of $12.00. Please note it is very important attendees do not lose their parking ticket.

We will have a high-top table near the bar with parking vouchers for your guests. We will also place a sign letting guests know to grab a parking voucher if they parked in the DAC parking garage.Â

Now What?
Many of you have asked how you can support us during this time. The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming, healing, and so beautiful. We will never be able to repay your kindness. It means so much more to us than you will ever know.  Grateful doesn't begin to describe how our family feels. Â

It is clear to us how much Owen was loved and how many people were impacted by him.Â

Although we love receiving flowers and cards and food and heartfelt messages, what we really want is for you to keep sharing Owen with us. Talk about him, remember him, send us your memories, contribute to this memorial.Â
Â
Never forget him. Â

We will have a celebration of life in the coming months. We'll provide details as soon as they are available.Â
Â
If you are moved to honor him in another way, here are some suggestions.

FOR OWEN

Owen LOVED cats and animals of all kinds. During his 21 years we rescued 6 cats, 2 guineas pigs, a lizard, and a bunny. If you would like to make a donation in his name, may we suggest Humane Colorado where we rescued his favorite cat, Cha Cha. You can donate here: Â

FOR THE FAMILY

Owen was immensely proud of his little sister, his favorite nerd. He loved making fun of how hard she studied. He recently helped her with Constitutional law homework and admitted he had no idea what he was talking about and could barely pronounce any of the words, never mind understand what he was asking to respond to. He often defended how messy her room was with "give her a break, she's so busy". Â

He was looking forward to seeing where she went to college so he could crash in her dorm. He was pushing for Boston University, so he had a place to stay in Boston whenever he wanted. Â

He was a big part of Laurel ultimately deciding to attend Boston University in January of 2027. She knows it's where he thought she should be and he was so excited for her journey. Â

If you would like to help relieve the financial burden of Laurel's college journey, you can make a donation to her college fund here:
